Can someone explain how when searching for Henry Yeo, from Essex, Ancestry found this a suitable match? The mind boggles.

The only things that match are Birth year (1803), and it is from Grosvenor, Middlesex, England

Well, as far as the birth place goes, you've asked for people born in Essex and adjacent counties - look where the slider is. Henry Fynn goes away if you tighten the birth place slider.

The name "Henry" matches (it always checks part names because, e.g., I wouldn't be happy if I searched for George Bruce and never found him because he was actually registered as George Slimman Bruce.)

"Yeo" appears to be set to "Exact, sounds like, and similar". I suspect that "sounds like" concentrates on the consonants so "Yeo" won't carry much forward other than the "Y" - though it's not as bad as adding in Soundex, which would find surnames like Jay and Way. Usually I never go anywhere near Soundex and stick to "sounds like". Which isn't very good here, I admit.
