POW Second World War records

Post by Thunder »

Whilst it is good that volunteers at TNA have completed the cataloguing of the WO 416 records. Unfortunately there are errors, in my view due to TNA's policy of cataloguing the documents 'as seen' on the records (e.g. Roumania, rather than Romania) and that Paddington is in Sydney, Australia, rather than 'Syney'. TNA do not seem to want to understand that the catalogue is supposed to help researchers find the records and is not for TNA's benefit. It is also strange that these entries are on the 'Discovery' catalogue whereas recent accessions have less than 20% of the records searchable.
