George Keith Robinson Jarvis 1912-1976

Post by JasonB »

I am trying to locate the 1921 census for George. He was an orphan as his parents George Jarvis and Marion Elizabeth (nee Dunn) had both died in 1916. He had a sister Joan Marion who was living with her grandparents George Jarvis (1859-1930) and Louisa Jane (nee Loader) (1863-1931) at 11 Princes Road, Heaton Moor, Yorkshire, England according to the 1921 census. However, there is no mention of her brother.

George was born on 15th August 1912 in Wanstead, Essex, England and died on 7th May 1976 in Kings Lynn, Norfolk, England. He married Elizabeth Kate Brown (1914-1984) on 28th August 1937 in Harborne, Birmingham, England.

Any help in this would be gratefully appreciated.

Possible death announcements for Elizabeth Dunn, 27 March 1923, Gloucestershire Echo, and 31 March 1923, Cheltenham Chronicle.
Marriage announcement for GKR Jarvis in the Birmingham Daily Gazette, 31 March 1923
Death announcement in the Lynn Advertiser, 11 May 1976.

I think there is another mention of George in the Lynn Advertiser, 4 January 1974.
New years honours list?
Supplement to the London Gazette, 1 January 1974
M.B.E. for George Keith Robinson Jarvis, Docks Engineer, King's Lynn Docks.
https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/iss ... plement/15

Lots more mentions down the years as G K R Jarvis, docks engineer.
In 1944 he lived at 2, Bank Chambers, New Milton, Hampshire.

Thank you for your research. It has been most helpful indeed. Based on the information you supplied he must have moved to Cheltenham to live with his grandmother Elizabeth at 17 Albert Place. This is the address where his mother Marion had died in 1916.

With regards to the MBE I found that information this evening on britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk along with reports of his retirement and death.
