Hello,
Can anyone help me in reading the attached hand written record. In particular the surname.
We welcome any query on Who When Where. If you have previously posted it on another forum (including the old WDYTYA forum), please state this in your opening post - this will save people redoing the research which has been done before: they can look at it and possibly go further with it.

Re: help with handwriting in records
Looks to me like Step sister Mary Willson, Johnstown, but not sure of the word following that but it might be Co. Kilkenny. That is based is based more on Johnstowns on Google Maps rather than the writing itself, though I can just about see how the end of the word might be "kenny".
Re: help with handwriting in records
Hello Hardwork,
Thank you for your reply. The last words are johnstown co kilkenny.

Re: help with handwriting in records
Surname - the last two letters are definitely ON - by comparison with 'Johnstown'
The first letter could be a W or even N (look at the first letter of 'Mary')
But I don't see an S in between, and the I seems more like an E; the middle appears more like ELL
So in fact I think it could be WELLON > NELLON

Re: help with handwriting in records
The initial letter of Mary's surname could be a D, written with a flourish, making her surname Dellon or Dillon, depends how strict he was dotting his i's
Re: help with handwriting in records
Absolutely agree, it could easily be a D - this makes sense
Re: help with handwriting in records
Thank you Devonliz and Mike Lonely for your suggestions. I originally thought it was Dillon but it did not provide any relevant answers. I will try your other suggestions.
