Deciphering handwriting

Post by Jethro Tull »

Hello all,

I am researching a family from Aberdare and have the following name I cannot decipher.

I can read the John Llewellyn but it is the name above I am struggling with. The transcription has this down as Bunny Llewellyn, which it may be, but I can find nothng else anywhere for a Bunny so I am guessing it is wrong but I cannot work it out all.

Any suggestions on this one are most welcomed please.

Cheers,

Can you give us the census year and page? Might help if we look at the full page. Might be indexed differently on other sites.

The Genealogist indexes them as Leversedge and her as Annie.

The first letter does look like the A in Aberdare. There's an Ann Hughes a couple of pages before and that looks like a similar A.

Thanks for the Genealogist suggestion, now I look it does seem like an "A", pretty certain it ends in "y". Just the fact the 3 letters in the middle all now look identical to me!

I did wonder if it could be Ginny but could not find anything from that, now I will search for names beginning with "A" to see what comes back.

Cheers

I would suggest
Ammy Lewelyn and John Lewelyn.
The two "m's" in Ammy match the "m" in Glamorgan
The surnames have single "L's"

Thanks for that Guy,

I'm starting to think Ammy as there is an Emmy at the top of the page which does look very similar. The single/double "L"bit seems fairly interchangeable on different records. Most of the ones I have found for this family, and the India Medal to John have the double "L" but I guess it cetainly would be worth me searching for the singular too.

Cheers
