Births in Scotland

Post by Thunder »

The latest set of figures show the lowest number of births since centralised registration started in 1855. This is the fifth year in a row the figures have fallen, is this a statistical anomaly or something else, the highest number was in the early 1960s. We know families are not as high as in Victorian times but even so, my g-g-grandfather had 14 children by six women, most he married. The death rate was about the same for comparison. Of course next year's census might shed some light on it.
