We welcome any query on Who When Where. If you have previously posted it on another forum (including the old WDYTYA forum), please state this in your opening post - this will save people redoing the research which has been done before: they can look at it and possibly go further with it.

Britten Green marriage
Can anyone make sense of this please? Elizabeth Britten married James Green in 1818 in Gt Billing, Northants, both OTP. One child, Mary Ann Elizabeth was baptised there in 1819. Ancestry describes her as Britten but the PR shows Britten Bird. I don't know where James is from or where the couple went...

Re: Lack of Matches
And well received, Mick. I never liked sharing, even as a kid, but of course the sense in being a bit more generous is obvious now.  Still not entirely confident about one or two branches that remain stubbornly un-matched while others have dozens of connections. Interestingly, they are bo...

Re: Lack of Matches
Agree with you wholeheartedly, paulHO1. Which made me think about my own Ancestry tree - it was bare branches, no siblings or siblings family and no attached media evidence. Not a lot to go but better than nothing, I hope. However I've added siblings etc and some supporting evidence for births and m...

Re: Planned destruction of wills by Ministry of Justice
I've just received an email from a contact who has had recent experience of modern (ie c2020) wills being incorrectly digitised thereby highlighting the problem. Once destroyed there's no going back. And we all know that computerised systems aren't 100% reliable, don't we. I'll be signing the petiti...

Re: Attestation (surname alias)
Similar but not quite the same - looking for some of my chaps I looked at many attestation docs and came across several added statements confirming the use of aliases. No details given so no idea of the circumstances or the outcome - were they allowed to carry on or thrown out for deceit?

Re: Not a Murray query
Thanks, Thunder. Nind in itself is a strange name!
FMP has 17 Nind baptisms and I think I've found my girl. Thanks again, Thunder

Not a Murray query
I have an Ann Nyend marrying a Richard Webb in Cheltenham in 1803. The copy is very clear NYEND but the search engines don't like it. Any ideas what it might actually be please?

Re: Lack of Matches
Hi Hardwork Thanks for the encouragement and it’s exactly as you’ve said. ThruLines confirm a lack of matches to these particular lines and I only know for certain that I do have many matches to individuals in the generations after the questionable ancestors. There is one questionable match of 8cMs ...

Re: Lack of Matches
Hello Hardwork, and thank you for your detailed reply. I have tested with other sites and uploaded to GEDmatch so have a wide range of matches, some I can easily identify and many are too small to be helpful and/or don't have linked or useful trees (isn't that annoying) or don't answer messages. Som...

Re: Murray, again
Worth following up, Mo, thanks. Yes, there are a number of baptisms in Shoreditch and Westminster to couples called James and Sarah Simmonds but from the clashing dates there are three different couples and the PRs offer no clues. Also, I can't find baptisms for both Jane and Sarah to the same paren...
