We welcome any query on Who When Where. If you have previously posted it on another forum (including the old WDYTYA forum), please state this in your opening post - this will save people redoing the research which has been done before: they can look at it and possibly go further with it.

Re: Where is Michael Purcell's Birth certificate and who is his Mother.
Still not joining the dots back to Michael born c1882, but Catherine Purcell (mother of John) died 2 March 1911, described as the widow of a blacksmith. Her death was registered by Jane Purcell, daughter-in-law.

Re: Where is Michael Purcell's Birth certificate and who is his Mother.
I notice that Edmond's death was registered in 1905 (Urlingford RD) by Mary Dillon, Niece, present at the death, Johnstown. Mary Dillon aged 19 of Donaghmore (the townland for Johnstown) married Thomas Boucher at the RC chapel at Johnstown in March 1905, naming her father as Michael Dillon, Labourer...

Re: Where is Michael Purcell's Birth certificate and who is his Mother.
John’s children’s births have the mmn of HICKEY, and his wife is Janey, so the marriage looks likely to be the one in 1892, Urlingford – John Purcell & Jane Hickey. John’s father was named as James Purcell, a blacksmith , which ties in nicely with their first son also being James. The witnesses ...

Re: Who was Sophia Smallbone?
It's possible that 'Sophia' may actually be Sarah Jane recorded twice - once with her parents and then again with her sister. Both are born c1855/6, with Sarah Jane being a pipe repairer (tobacco), and 'Sophia' being a pipe moulder (tobacco). Both, as you say, born Ratcliff. If one or other family c...

Re: 1921 Census Mystery
I have the 1921 census for my great grandmother and her husband but four children are missing from the return. Their ages are ticked appropriately but their individual names etc haven't been entered. I haven't found them elsewhere. Is it possible the couple misunderstood the form and didn't add the...

Re: Birth record brick wall
Odd that Matthew Walsh died i Liverpool but was buried back in Bolton (1901). May be worth obtaining his death certificate to see the name of the informant - might help in tracking his 'wife' (who is possibly JHW's mother) Sarah/Helen?
