We welcome any query on Who When Where. If you have previously posted it on another forum (including the old WDYTYA forum), please state this in your opening post - this will save people redoing the research which has been done before: they can look at it and possibly go further with it.

Re: Find my past

The three bars icon in the top right, aka the hamburger icon, only appears when your FMP screen is below a certain width. (Don't ask me whether that's a pixel count or something more complex - I dunno). Normally with a full-width FMP home screen, I see a down-pointing arrow next to "Search"...

Re: Fold3 - New UK Military Records (WW1)

Yeah - I'd already looked for the WW1 Pension Records from the WFA on Fold3 for my own purposes - but as you say - no sign of any freebie. I ...

Re: WW1 service record questions

Oh that "London" is so annoying... You have my sympathy - they're all explicitly "London, England" so what else would you imagine "London" to be from that context? :?

Re: WW1 service record questions

... *why would an English national sign up for the Canadian Expeditionary Force in London in 1915? ... Hmm. Firstly note that the step isn't as big as we might think because Canadians were all British subjects at that point (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_Citizenship_Act,_1946 ) On that...

Re: Sarah Parmiter died Rome 1906

I tried Anna Parmiter with variations on both names, looking for death records in France. 29 come up - many of which show Anna etc as the mother of a child who died. Nothing looks like her - I have less than zero knowledge of how comprehensive that data is. (It picks up surnames like Parmetier, Parm...

... Be very wary of that new viewer. Bit harsh. Nothing to be wary about, it's not perfect of course. I don't use it very often, but it has its uses. ... If it's now handling multiple places on one "film" correctly then - good. However, it appears that one thing still to be wary of is thi...

Re: Samuel Allcock 1753

... I wasn’t aware of that method of viewing films, useful tip, thanks Be very wary of that new viewer. FamilySearch have been working on it for years (literally) and every time I think they've got it right, I find an example of a "film" where it's as much use as the proverbial chocolate ...
