Norfolknan,
In case you are not aware, the 1921 census can be a bit more specific when stating place of birth. My ggmother was shown variously as being born in Ireland, or Cork. It wasn’t until 1921 that her place of birth was stated to be Skibbereen, (a parish in Cork).
We welcome any query on Who When Where. If you have previously posted it on another forum (including the old WDYTYA forum), please state this in your opening post - this will save people redoing the research which has been done before: they can look at it and possibly go further with it.

Re: DNA match solved
Do you feel relieved to have the answer? Well, before we found the common ancestor, it did cause me to doubt the efficacy of DNA testing :D It does annoy me when people publish their DNA without linking it to a tree. What is the point, or are they so selfish that they are relying on others to find ...

DNA match solved
I took a DNA test quite a few years ago, and had problems with one of my close matches (2nd-3rd cousin). Despite us both having reasonable sized trees, we couldn’t find a match, all we knew was the match was somewhere in my mothers tree. She has just found out that from another distant relative of m...

Re: Useless FMP Transcriptions
Wiltshire Baptisms Index 1530-1917 transcriptions were created by both Findmypast and Wiltshire Family History Society. The "blank" records in question could be the result of problems occurring during the transcriptions conversion process as they were uploaded to So its technical issue ra...

Re: Samuel Allcock 1753
Methinks you doth protest too much. I have had no problems with quality with screenshots compared with downloads.
I was merely pointing out that where downloads have been disabled, a screenshot is a viable alternative option, especially if one enlarges the image to full screen.

Useless FMP Transcriptions
I was searching for a baptism for Robert Lyddal in wiltshire around 1650, and FMP listed about 10 results with no names listed.
On checking one, FMP presented me with the following:
To quote Adrian, as useful as a chocolate teapot!! Why do they bother?
