As suggested by VALLMO9, here are two photos of my grandad during WW2. BTW, he's the smallest one in full kit of pic 2. If anyone can identify anything relating to his regiment I'd be very grateful:
We welcome any query on Who When Where. If you have previously posted it on another forum (including the old WDYTYA forum), please state this in your opening post - this will save people redoing the research which has been done before: they can look at it and possibly go further with it.

Re: Army pictures - help?
Just a guess: Could he have served with the Royal Army Ordnance Corps? They served in numerous roles, such as bomb disposal during the Second World War. It was also responsible for much of the repair of Army equipment and vehicles until that task was made the responsibility of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in 1942.
Having said that, the RAOC's cap badge is a bit different to the one in your photos.

On closer inspection of the top photo, the cap badge looks more like Royal Engineers.

It looks more like the shape of a Royal Engineers badge.
Is it possible to sharpen up the photo and re post please? I have tried it on my lap top but cannot make it clearer.

How old was your GF during WW2? Only it does strike me that the pic of the group shows a bunch of guys who are not just out of school.... Which, if that is indeed the "proper" Army, might suggest people drafted for technical expertise rather than combat.

Re: Army pictures - help?
He was born 1902 so in his early 40s depending on the date of the photo. I’m not sure what expertise he had, he was a motor driver in 1939. I think he signed up fairly early on because my dad was evacuated in 1939 and stayed for just a few months but remembers his dad visiting in his uniform. At least that’s a memory a long time after the event.

Chris - here are several ways to help determine a soldier's regiment or unit:
Look at the addresses on any letters he wrote.
Look at any uniform or equipment he owned, has it been stamped?
Look at any photographs; is there a sign with the unit number?
Gallantry medal rolls sometimes hold unit information.
